Location: Colts Pig Stand (Formerly Daytona Pig Stand) — Ormond Beach, Florida

Date of Visit: 05/14/2019

Florida Stuffed welcomes you to the first restaurant to be featured in Ormond Beach, Florida. The month of May is pressing forward with a trip to this barbecue spot. This easy to find place is right at US-1 and Interstate 95. It has been a few months since I have tackled any barbecue and this place wins the prize of any place I have tried to date. I arrived approximately 1230PM and while this place was busy for outside seating, I decided to remain indoors to cool off.

The barbecue here is very good. I have had people complain to me in the past that Florida lacks decent barbecue or it lacks its own style of barbecue but this place may put both misconceptions to rest. Service and atmosphere were both comforting and you will find the food at very reasonable prices. Overall, the food was great. My compliments to the pit master and I appreciate the crew for making sure my experience was good. For those of you that may not be aware, this restaurant was known as Daytona Pig Stand for the last fourteen years but recently changed its name to Colts Pig Stand.

Accessibility: Colts Pig Stand is located on US-1 next to Interstate 95 in Ormond Beach, Florida. Plenty of parking is available around the restaurant. Traffic was light during the time of my arrival.

Customer Service: I was greeted upon entry. Orders are taken at the register prior to seating. I was checked on a couple of times during my stay. My server was great, very friendly, great to chat with about the food. I gave her my feedback on the food and the other servers were nice as well. My order was brought out in approximately ten minutes.

Dating Scene: This restaurant is big enough and comfortable enough for a pleasant date. Open seating is available inside and outside, giving you a pleasant atmosphere either way. The restaurant is also family friendly. Seating arrangements are good for small and large groups.

Lets Get to the Menu: On this visit I did a three-meat combo. While a selection of meats are available, I ordered mine with pulled chicken, brisket and St Louis Ribs. The sides chosen were fried okra and onion rings. The ribs were at an upcharge. My order came to $25.55. The ribs had a dry rub seasoning and they were very tender. Good ribs have to have the meat come right off the bones and I recommend you try them. Surprisingly the chicken came in a close second place. The chicken was very moist, had a lot of flavor and I could have eaten more of it. The brisket I had mixed feelings on (which I told my server). I was given a very lean sample of brisket. Usually I prefer mine a little fatty or marbleized. Next time I will ask for it that way. The brisket was fresh but not a lot of excitement without some additional fat content. By the way, sides very good, made from scratch. On the menu, you will find sandwiches, combo plates, various meats available such as sausage, brisket, chicken, pork, fish, kids menu options and sides. I would suggest a couple budget between $40 to $60 here depending on how hungry you are.

Extras: You are within walking distance of Daytona Harley Davidson, the Clarion Inn Hotel, Welcome Center and a few seconds from Interstate 95.

Restaurant Cleanliness: No issues to report.

Forms of Payment Accepted: Cash or credit card.
